Steam Deck & SteamOS
Steam Deck is x86_64 — use the Linux x86_64 build, not aarch64. Full install steps also live on Install on Linux → Steam Deck.
Switch to Desktop Mode. Download the x86_64 AppImage from the home page or GitHub CI / emulator Assets.
Make the AppImage executable: file properties → allow executing, or
chmod +xin Konsole. Run it once to confirm it launches.Optional portable profile: place an empty
userfolder next to the AppImage before first launch — see First-time setup.Complete keys, firmware, and game directories in Citron — same as desktop Linux (setup guide).
Right-click the AppImage → Add to Steam (or add a non-Steam game pointing at the AppImage). Switch to Game Mode for shortcuts from the library.
Game Mode tips
- Settings dialogs: open the Steam keyboard with Steam + X, use Tab to focus Apply, then OK.
- If the keyboard stops appearing after sleep, a full Deck restart often clears it.
- Controller layout: see Controller & input.
After each upgrade
Re-point EmuDeck or Steam ROM Manager at the new AppImage path if you use those tools. Back up the user folder before replacing the binary — All builds.
Broken profile on Deck
Back up and rename user, launch fresh, repeat setup. More: Setup → Linux broken profile.
